The EU's "Regulation on Markets in Crypto-assets" (MiCA) takes effect on 12/30. Coinbase will delist USDT and other unlicensed stablecoins in the "EU Region" on December 30, 2024.

The biggest profit for stablecoin issuers Circle and Tether comes from using reserve funds to buy U.S. Treasury bonds, earning interest to stay profitable. However, MiCA requires stablecoin issuers to hold at least 30% to 60% of their reserves in cash stored in EU banks and to obtain authorization as an electronic money institution (EMI) or credit institution within the European Economic Area. Unauthorized stablecoins cannot provide trading services.
Shell development? On December 17, Tether invested in the stablecoin company StableR headquartered in Malta.
Issuing two stablecoins pegged to the Euro and the Dollar:
EURR (StableR Euro): Pegged to the Euro, with a market capitalization of approximately 3.4 million USD, accounting for 1% of Euro stablecoins.
USDR (StableR USD): Pegged to the Dollar and not listed on mainstream platforms.
StableR was established in 2023 and recently obtained an electronic money institution (EMI) license issued by the Malta Financial Services Authority, allowing it to issue fully compliant stablecoins under MiCA. #USDT #MiCA法规
