I recently went to Hong Kong to open a card. Here is my experience sharing. Preparation. ID card

Proof of address (this is very important)

Pass for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan (available nationwide, group visa, you can pass by yourself)

Customs clearance slip (it will be printed when you pass through the Hong Kong gate and press your fingerprint)

Bank salary flow

Investment records (transaction records of stock funds)

1,000HKD in cash (if not available, you can withdraw it via UnionPay)

Download the app of a good bank. How to choose which branch? The advantage of Bank of China is that there are no procedures and low fees, maybe 0

If you have all the materials and can queue up at 7:30 in the morning, any branch will do.

If you don’t queue up in advance, you may consider choosing a branch in places like Yuen Long. Bank of China is just a few steps away. Do you need to make an appointment? You can apply without an appointment (preferably make an appointment). As long as you wait patiently, you will find that many of the numbers in front of you will be empty. Are there any other pitfalls? The Bank of China is now very strict about address proof. Because I thought that the proof of address can be directly used with the ID card, I did not do the address proof, which caused both Bank of China to suffer. Whether you accept the direct use of ID cards as proof of address should depend on the branch's policy.

Mobile roaming

First: Before departure, you must buy a mobile phone with data for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. (Roaming will be automatically enabled, it is best to call customer service to find out)

Second: See if your mobile phone can switch operators. Because my Xiaomi has a new system, I couldn't switch operators. I later returned to Shenzhen and got a new phone and a new card to find out the reason.

Third: If you find that your mobile phone has no signal in Hong Kong, and there is free wifi in McDonald's and charging at some locations, you can then use Xiaohongshu to find a way to handle roaming abroad. I still recommend using domestic maps. Google Maps does not I know why there is no character direction.

You can use Alipay to travel on subways and buses. Applying for a subway card is the same as in China. However, Alipay cannot be used on the subway coming out of the airport. Tickets must be purchased at the manual service hall at the exit. You can use domestic payment systems to pay for shopping and accommodation, including Alipay and WeChat Pay. If it works, if not, just use UnionPay ATM to withdraw Hong Kong dollars.

As a virtual bank, you can consider opening za bank (you need a mobile phone number bound to a bank in China)

Livi Bank, just a mobile phone number is enough

The above needs to be opened in Hong Kong, and the previous preparation materials can be opened as a last resort to prevent you from not opening any bank account. The above information is for reference only
