Louisiana has accepted crypto payments for the first time. State Treasurer John Fleming announced that citizens will now be able to pay for state services using Bitcoin (BTC), the Bitcoin Lightning Network, and USD Coin (USDC). The first payment was made to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries via the Bitcoin Lightning Network.

Fleming said the move is a result of collaboration between the state, Bead Pay, and other integration partners. He emphasized that crypto payments will reduce fraudulent transactions.

The state is addressing concerns about accepting crypto by converting received crypto into US dollars. What do you think about this development? Share your thoughts in the comments.
