Dfinity, the Swiss foundation behind the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) blockchain, has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the Cambodian Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation at Token2049. The parties agreed to provide research, education and entrepreneurial ecosystem support for smart city infrastructure.

Dfinity is already a partner in Cambodia for the United Nations Development Program’s digital Universal Trusted Identity system. The LOI is part of Dfinity’s efforts to support the sharing of sovereign cloud technology.

“We are proud to support Cambodia’s digital transformation,” said Dfinity founder Dominic Williams. “By integrating blockchain technology into our national infrastructure projects, we aim to accelerate our smart city initiatives and strengthen the digital economy,” added MISTI director Try Sophal.
