Former US President Donald Trump met with the CEO of Bitcoin Magazine, David Bailey, and representatives of leading American mining companies Marathon Digital, CleanSpark and Riot Platforms. During the conversation, the politician announced his intention to support the BTC mining industry.

What else is known? After the meeting, Trump posted a message on his social network Truth calling for support for his candidacy in the 2024 presidential election:

Vote for Trump! Bitcoin mining may be our last line of defense against the digital dollar. Biden's hatred of Bitcoin only helps China, Russia and radical communists. We want all remaining bitcoins to be mined in the US. This will help us take a leading position in the energy sector.”

This year, Biden again proposed a 30% tax on mining and also vetoed a Congressional measure that would have overturned a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rule that made it difficult for crypto custodians to operate.

Later, media reported that the Biden campaign had become more open to the crypto sector, realizing that this issue could have an impact on the presidential race.

Trump, in turn, announced his intention to become a “crypto president,” began accepting donations in cryptocurrencies, noted the need for the United States to develop as a crypto hub with friendly regulation, began exploring the possibility of using Bitcoin to solve the problem of national debt, and again promised to prevent the release of a digital dollar if re-election.

With over 50 million cryptocurrency holders in the US, Trump's commitment to the industry could play a key role in securing victory.
