On Aug. 7, PayPal announced the launch of its own stablecoin, PayPal USD (PYUSD), which is pegged to the US dollar and backed by PayPal’s reserves. PYUSD is designed to facilitate fast and low-cost cross-border payments, as well as to provide access to digital assets and decentralized applications for PayPal’s 400 million users.
