U.S. presidential candidate Trump said he has a "very positive and open attitude toward cryptocurrency companies," advocating that the United States take a leading role in the cryptocurrency industry.
Former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump has publicly reiterated his support for U.S. cryptocurrency businesses and the industry as a whole, arguing that there is no other acceptable position for the United States other than being a leader in the cryptocurrency space.
----Trump wrote on his social platform Truth Details: "I have a very positive and open attitude towards cryptocurrency companies and everything related to this emerging industry. Our country must be a leader in this field, there is no second place."
Trump made the comments shortly before a scheduled speech at the Libertarian Party’s national convention in Washington, D.C., as both parties look to appeal to crypto-friendly voters ahead of the presidential election — and since roughly 50 million people in the U.S. own cryptocurrencies, or 20% of the U.S. adult population, that’s a lot of votes.
In addition to his support for cryptocurrencies, Trump has criticized President Joe Biden, accusing him of wanting the cryptocurrency industry to fail. He said the industry would thrive under his administration, while he believes it would suffer under Biden's policies.
--"On the other hand, Crooked Joe Biden, the worst President in the history of our Country, wants it to die a slow and painful death. That will never happen to me," Trump asserted.
His involvement in cryptocurrency continues to grow; the presidential candidate recently announced that he began accepting cryptocurrency donations for his campaign, a first for a major U.S. presidential candidate.
As Trump took action, the Biden administration's stance on cryptocurrencies has also softened. After the House of Representatives approved the cryptocurrency market structure bill FIT21, the White House expressed opposition but did not threaten a veto.
