The investigation into the hack was conducted by ZachXBT, a well-known cryptocurrency detective who investigates these and other types of crimes.

The hack took place between August 18 and 19, about a month ago. Being a social engineering attack, the hackers posed as Google support, where they gained access to the victim's email account and, from there, gained access to other accounts of the investor.

On the same day, the US Department of Justice (DoJ) reported the arrest of two suspects for participating in the theft. They are 20 and 21 years old and were flaunting the money from the robbery by buying cars, traveling, jewelry and other luxury items.

The victim was a creditor of Genesis, a crypto platform that went bankrupt in 2023, but his name has not been revealed.

According to ZachXBT, the 4,064 bitcoins were stolen because the victim granted access to his computer through AnyDesk, a software that allows remote access.

In other screenshots, ZachXBT shows that the hackers did not wait to spend the money they obtained in the robbery. Jewelry, international trips, parties and luxury cars are on the list.

A conversation that draws attention is when one of the suspects sends a photo of a pink Lamborghini Urus to his girlfriend. The car is valued at US$89390418960240 thousand.

โ€œI bought you a gift. Let's say it's an early birthday present. A thank you gift. I value you very much.โ€

โ€œGreavys (Malone) lives a lavish lifestyle with the stolen money, having bought more than 10 cars and going out to clubs in Los Angeles and Miami with friends, spending $89390418960250 to $89390418960500 per night and handing out Birkin bags to girls,โ€

The US Justice Department reported the arrest of two of them.
