From Next year, Santa Catarina will implement a new state minimum wage of R$$ 1,844.40. This amount significantly exceeds the current national minimum wage, which is R$$ 1,412, and seeks to provide better conditions for Santa Catarina workers. The decision was approved by the Legislative Assembly of Santa Catarina (Alesc) after numerous discussions and negotiations.

Several meetings were held between unions, employers and government representatives to reach a consensus. Mรกrio Cezar de Aguiar, president of the Federation of Industries of Santa Catarina (Fiesc), emphasized the importance of an inclusive dialogue that takes into account the needs of all parties involved, especially workers.

The new state minimum wage will be organized into four bands, reflecting the diversity of professions and responsibilities within the state. The ranges were defined as follows:

โ€ขFirst Range: R$ 1,612.26 โ€“ For workers in agriculture, construction, and domestic services, which are essential sectors but also face specific challenges.

โ€ขSecond Range: R$ 1,670.56 โ€“ Covers several other categories that play a crucial role in the state's economy.

โ€ขThird Range: R$ 1,769.14 โ€“ Includes sectors such as the chemical, pharmaceutical, food, and trade industries, which require higher pay due to their responsibilities.

โ€ขFourth Range: R$ 1,844.40 โ€“ Targeted at jobs that require greater qualifications and responsibility, especially in highly complex sectors.

The division into ranges seeks to promote fair and equitable pay, adjusting increases according to the needs of each sector.
