The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has asked the court for a February 2025 deadline to produce “hundreds of thousands of documents” in its discovery process related to crypto exchange Coinbase.

In a filing in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York on September 18, the SEC asked a federal judge for a four-month extension to complete discovery. The documents were initially expected to be produced by October 18, but Coinbase partially won a request requiring the SEC to provide certain documents.

If approved by Judge Katherine Failla, the SEC would have until February 18 to produce the documents. The deadline for expert discovery could be April 22. This suggests that a jury trial would not take place until 2025.
