Dear Zilliqa Community,

I am excited to reflect on the transformative developments that marked the last month, headlined by the much-anticipated publication of the whitepaper and roadmap for Zilliqa 2.0.

This announcement has been long awaited, and I am grateful for the community's patience and support as we celebrate the reveal of our vision for the future of the Zilliqa network. This new evolution of Zilliqa will deliver customisability, efficiency, and an intuitive design that makes Web3 as accessible as Web2.

I encourage everyone to visit our roadmap website for Zilliqa 2.0 to explore the exciting new blockchain we are building together.

June also saw the announcement of our integration with Fireblocks, opening new avenues for institutional investment by adding support for ZIL to the market-leading platform. This not only opens the door to enterprise and retail adoption but also unlocks further integrations with major players in the fintech space.

Additionally, we launched Zilliqa Safe in partnership with Protofire, bringing a multi-signature EVM wallet solution to Zilliqa that reinforces our commitment to providing powerful and accessible tools for teams and individuals.

I am pleased to note the continued development of Zilliqa's EVM DeFi ecosystem, which was marked by the launch of PlunderSwap's V3 liquidity update, enhancing decentralised trading on the Zilliqa network.

These and many other updates and announcements made June one of our most exciting months to date while also signalling the beginning of our network's next evolution with Zilliqa 2.0.

As we head into July, I am grateful for the tireless work done by our technical team to deliver against our milestones, as well as the continued support of the community.

Together, we can shape the future we imagine.

Zilliqa 2.0 roadmap and whitepaper revealed

Whether you’re an ardent member of the ZIlliqa community or only stop by to take a look in occasionally, last month saw an announcement that likely grabbed your attention immediately.

June saw the reveal of the whitepaper and roadmap for Zilliqa 2.0 - the next evolution of the Zilliqa network which brings customisability, efficiency, and an intuitive design that makes using Web3 as easy as Web2.

Major changes coming in this new version of the Zilliqa blockchain include customisable x-shards, independent but interconnected chains that can be configured according to the needs of the apps that run on them.

Zilliqa 2.0 will also adopt a new consensus mechanism based on Proof-of-Stake, which will deliver faster block times while using far less energy.

Read more about the 6 biggest changes coming in Zilliqa 2.0.

The Zilliqa 2.0 roadmap and whitepaper are now available on the Zilliqa website, outlining the design of the new protocol and our multi-stage strategy for deploying these new features to the network.

Expect more updates around Zilliqa 2.0 as development of the protocol progresses and we reach the milestones defined in our roadmap.

Integration with Fireblocks

Another highlight from June was the exciting announcement of Zilliqa’s integration with Fireblocks, unlocking new opportunities for institutional investment in the Zilliqa ecosystem.

Fireblocks is the market-leading infrastructure provider for enterprise-grade digital asset management, and it has now added support for buying and selling ZIL on its platform.

This enables its high-profile institutional customers, which include the likes of Revolut, eToro, and Robinhood, to access the Zilliqa ecosystem and integrate support for ZIL into their platforms.

With this announcement built on the expanded EVM compatibility of the Zilliqa network, the way is open for major investors and enterprises to get involved in the exciting and growing Zilliqa ecosystem.

Zilliqa Safe now available

The last month saw several major partnerships and integrations aimed at delivering powerful and accessible tools to new and old users of the Zilliqa network.

This was exemplified by the launch of Zilliqa Safe - bringing the industry-leading multi-signature EVM wallet solution to the Zilliqa network.

Deployed in partnership with Protofire, Zilliqa Safe offers an accessible EVM multisig wallet that can be used by teams or individuals to add an extra layer of security to their assets by requiring multiple signers to authorise transactions.

Multisig wallets can also aid asset recovery, as they allow multiple parties to hold keys to the same account, allowing access if one key is lost. This shared control ensures no single party has unilateral control, making fund management and recovery more secure in collaborative environments.

Zilliqa Safe is now live at safe.zilliqa.com.

Concentrated Liquidity with PlunderSwap V3

On the DeFi front, the Zilliqa network saw a massive announcement last month with the launch of PlunderSwap V3, bringing concentrated liquidity to the first EVM decentralised exchange (DEX) on Zilliqa.

Concentrated liquidity allows providers to allocate liquidity to a specific price range, incentivising the allocation of liquidity to reasonable price ranges while allowing providers’ capital to remain more active.

When using the new Exchange V3 on PlunderSwap, users will receive both Liquidity Provider NFTs and a share of the pool's fees when they allocate funds to a price range. These NFTs represent liquidity positions and can be transferred to other EVM wallets on the Zilliqa network.

This means that not only can liquidity providers enjoy more efficient rewards, but they can also trade their positions with others in a decentralised way.

AMAs and ecosystem news

In other ecosystem news, last month saw the announcement of the Zilliqa 2.0 roadmap expanded by brief explanations of the upcoming features of the innovative new blockchain.

Zoltan Fazekas, our Head of Research, shared more about what to expect in the upcoming Jasper release of the protocol, which will include the first implementation of the Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism used by Zilliqa 2.0.

It was also an exciting month for Web3War, the free-to-play Skill2Earn FPS developed by Roll1ng Thund3rz, which launched a “Play to AirDrop” campaign ahead of the launch of the game’s next major seasonal content update.

Several lucky Web3War players were also able to get early access to Season 2 of Web3War, which is now live for all users. You can find the full release notes on the official website.

In a move that aligns with the decentralisation of the Zilliqa network and builds a healthier and less concentrated network topology, one of the biggest stakers on the Zilliqa network moved their stake to Luganodes’s enterprise-grade staking services.

Decentralisation and the onboarding of new stakers is a major consideration for the Zilliqa network as we approach the launch of Zilliqa 2.0, as with a new Proof-of-Stake consensus comes the need to onboard validators and the exciting opportunity to earn rewards based on effective incentives.
