According to Techub News, Bitcoin.com reported that Zambia is formulating regulations to prohibit the use of foreign currencies, including the US dollar, in domestic transactions.

According to local media reports, a draft document released to the public by the Bank of Zambia includes measures in this regard, aimed at strengthening the use of the national legal currency Kwacha. The submitted document proposes a maximum of ten years in prison for those who use currencies other than Kwacha and heavy fines for citizens who violate these regulations. These regulations are expected to be formally promulgated by the Minister of Finance and National Planning and may affect the way Zambians and tourists conduct trade in the country.
