Julian Assange's Bitcoin wallet received a mysterious $500,000 donation on Tuesday. The donation comes following Assange's release from Belmarsh prison in the UK on Monday, after reaching a deal with US authorities. According to blockchain data, a donation of 8.2 BTC ($492,254) was transferred from a multisignature wallet to Assange's Bitcoin donation address. 🎁

Even though they managed to raise more than 78% of the target funds through Crowdfunder, these Bitcoin donations almost covered the entire cost of the debt. Assange has now returned to Australia a free man after pleading guilty to one count of espionage.

There are two people who appear to claim credit for the donation. One of them was Andrew Tate, who replied with a gift emoji on Twitter. However, the online Bitcoin community was more skeptical of Tate's claims, asking him to sign the transaction personally. However, observers then noticed a subtle claim from Jack Dorsey, the founder of Twitter.

"Welcome through," Dorsey tweeted on Tuesday at 5:03 pm ET — the same time that transactions were sent through the chain. Dorsey is a supporter of various Bitcoin infrastructure initiatives. So, who sends Bitcoins? Come on, give your opinion in the comments column! 😄
