Short it, and then curse it every day; long it, and then praise it every day.

Take an extreme example, how many people curse XRP, does it stop it from pumping? Once it pumps, everyone praises it.

In a secondary bull market, as long as the track is not bad, any hot targets will pump, but many altcoins may consolidate for 4 months and only pump in the last month.
