Each update also includes smaller updates. For example, the next Surge update will be the Prague/Electra (also known as Pectra) update. Scalability will also be improved. For example, it will be possible to pay for gasoline with different tokens. In addition, smart contracts will become faster.
The last update was Dencun (Denver/Kankun). This reduced the cost of L2 transactions. Binary large objects or blobs were also introduced. These blobs reduce the amount of data permanently stored in Ethereum. The diagram below shows the six steps of the Ethereum roadmap.
U Surge has a few key goals. We will take a look at them and how Buterin and Ethereum plan to achieve them. The key goals are to achieve 100,000 TPS (transactions per second) for L1 and L2a. For example, censorship resistance, lack of trust, and openness.
L2s are compatible with each other. Ethereum should feel like a single ecosystem, not 34 different #blockchains .
Ethereum aims to achieve these goals through seven steps. Below is a brief overview of these seven steps.
The #blockchain trilemma illustrates three properties of blockchains that are difficult to reconcile. Most or all blockchains can master two of these properties, but the third property is thus not integrated. Overcoming this dilemma is difficult, but not impossible.
bspNARKS helps solve this dilemma: SNARKS is a short, non-interactive zero-knowledge argument. In other words, a zero-knowledge technology. Remember, this is when a transaction can be validated without showing any data about it.
Plasma architectures, available since 2017, are another option.
This should bring Ethereum's TPS to 58,000.
