According to a preliminary technical analysis by Digital Foundry, Senua's Saga: Hellblade II runs on Xbox Series X at a dynamic resolution ranging from 1296p to 1440p and utilizes horizontal black bars. Due to letterboxing, the actual resolution of the image is even lower - with the subtraction of the bars, the lower and upper scaling boundaries are 2304 x 964 pixels and 2560 x 1070 pixels respectively.

Judging by this, the game appears to be very demanding graphically, which may explain the developers' decision to limit it to 30 FPS and not include a performance mode, which would likely require significant sacrifices in visual detail.

Interestingly, this is not the first game on Unreal Engine with a "low" resolution. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth runs on PlayStation 5 in quality mode at 1152p, while Immortals of Aveum struggles to reach 720p at 60 frames per second on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

As for the technical aspect of Hellblade 2 on Xbox Series S, it remains an open question for Digital Foundry as the frames obtained by the experts were recorded on Xbox Series X. However, it can be assumed that the version for the younger console will be limited to 720p at 30 FPS.

The project is set to be released on May 21st.
