US Presidential Candidates To Discuss Digital Assets in “Stand With Crypto” Forum

Cryptocurrency exchange #coinbase has launched the "Stand With Crypto" campaign with the goal of convening candidates for the 2024 United States #PresidentialElection election to engage in discussions about blockchain technology and digital assets.

As of December 4, the campaign's website indicates the involvement of Republican candidates Asa Hutchinson and Vivek Ramaswamy, along with Democratic candidate Dean Phillips, in a live event scheduled for December 11 in New Hampshire. The forum will delve into diverse topics related to digital assets. Other candidates invited to participate encompass former President Donald Trump, independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Republicans Doug Burgum, Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis, and Chris Christie.

According to opinion polls, there's a strong likelihood that President Biden will contend against Trump in the #2024election, with the former president holding a double-digit lead against DeSantis, Haley, and Ramaswamy, ranging from 5% to 13%. A recent Quinnipiac poll depicted Kennedy Jr., an independent candidate with pro-crypto views, at 22%, competing against both Trump and President Biden.

The influence of the December 11 forum, occurring a mere month before the primary, on voters' focus on crypto remains uncertain. Candidates such as Kennedy Jr. and Ramaswamy have placed emphasis on digital assets in their campaigns, whereas Biden and Trump seldom address crypto and blockchain matters in public discussions.

A clumsy crypto user accidentally paid a huge transaction fee, shattering digital records in the process.

A user on X (formerly Twitter) named "83_5BTC" claimed to be the victim of the $3 million fee, stating that their wallet was hacked. After creating a new cold wallet and transferring 139 BTC to it, the funds were immediately transferred out. While the user provided a signed message to prove ownership, it is unsure whether the attacker signed it using the compromised wallet.

As per Mononaut, an anonymous developer, the hack's probable cause was a low-entropy wallet susceptible to attacks. The speculation is that replace-by-fee (RBF) was employed to swiftly boost the transaction fee for expedited processing. Mononaut suggests that multiple attackers might have vied to pilfer the funds, leading to the elevated fee.

AntPool, a #Bitcoin mining pool, has committed to refunding the unprecedented $3 million transaction fee it mined last week. However, the refund is contingent upon verifying the owner's identity. Temporarily frozen by the pool's risk control system, AntPool has instructed the original owner to confirm their identity before December 10, 2023, using a signing tool such as Electrum or Bitcoin Core and sending the signed text to the provided support email address.

Last week's transaction established a new milestone, marking the highest fee in U.S. dollars for a single Bitcoin transaction. The user, aiming to transfer 55.77 $BTC ($2.1 million), inadvertently paid a fee of 83.65 $BTC ($3.1 million). I recently tried searching for an article to briefly explain the different stages of #startup funding to someone, but I found it difficult to find something that was concise and straightforward. This article aims to provide a clear and easy-to-understand overview of the various stages of startup funding.

1. #Pre-Seed Round ($0 to $50,000): This is the bootstrapping stage. Funds are provided by startup owners, friends and family members.

2. #Seed Round ($50,000 to $3 million): This round is the product development stage. Funds can be sourced from micro VCs, angel investors, crowd funding, friends and family members.

3. #SeriesA Funding ($3 million to $6 million): First round of VC. Funds can be sourced from accelerators and VCs.

4. Series B Funding ($10 million to $30 million): Second round of VC. Funds can be sourced from VCs.

5. Series C Funding ($30 million to $50 million): Third round of VC. Funds can be sourced from VCs, private equity firms, hedge funds and banks.

#Netflix "Conquest" director, Carl Erik Rinsch, reportedly diverted $4 million from the show's budget to invest in Dogecoin, reaping a staggering $27 million profit. Seeking an additional $14 million from Netflix through confidential arbitration, Rinsch's show, allocated a $55 million budget, is yet to release its first episode.
