The “ETH is money” statement is wrong. It’s like saying “let’s forget all the problems and just repeat ETH is money”. It doesn’t help. If DeFi leaves Ethereum L1, it’s the end of Ethereum. ETH should focus on becoming the world computer. The main goal must be to keep the current DeFi and grow it into the best ecosystem. If we agree on this, we can prioritize features faster by working with top builders — everything else will follow. If we achieve this, ETH will become the best money — and vice versa.

TWC (World Computer) has always been our vision, Swarm is now ready, and I believe 2025 will be the year to realize this vision. We are in talks with blockchains and projects to build alliances to start a new cycle of dapp revolution.

Swarm Innovation Leads the New Era of Entertainment: A Strong Alliance with Douyin, Xiaohongshu, and Aitao
For Chinese users focused on the entertainment sector, there's exciting news by the end of 2023: The Swarm Foundation, in collaboration with StreamETH, Etherna, and Mego, has created a new model for entertainment events. Through deep cooperation, they bring revolutionary experiences in live streaming, on-demand, and ticketing. Domestic friends may not be familiar with these three foreign platforms, but comparing them to well-known domestic platforms will make clear the innovations and transformations this collaboration brings to the entertainment industry. StreamETH, Etherna, and Mego can be likened to popular domestic platforms from the Web 2.0 era such as Douyin live streaming, Xiaohongshu, and Damaike, making the role and value of Swarm technology in these three areas crystal clear.
This release opens new possibilities for Swarm developers and node operators with doubled reserves, price oracle enhancements, and new GSOC features for serving more dynamic content.

This is a great time for all distributed storage crypto projects to rise to the challenge.
Can you do it cheaper than S3?
Constanta Gallo:
The added value of decentralized storage compared to traditional models is not just in S3 pricing: storing your data on AWS is controlled by the US, while storing your data on Swarm is controlled by you.
Laszlo Fazekas:
Moreover, Swarm is not just a storage engine, but also a CDN that consumers need to pay for. You can start your own video streaming platform with minimal investment. $XRP $BNB $PNUT
In November, the Swarm community call brought exciting updates from the project team. The main highlights from the call are listed below.
bee version 2.3.0: doubled the reserved capacity and GSOC updates Niki Papadatou, bee product lead, discussed the upcoming bee2.3.0 release at the November meeting, scheduled for release on December 4. The main feature of this version is the introduction of SWIP-21: doubling the reserve size. By doubling the reserve, node operators will increase their chances of winning in the "Schelling game", thereby increasing their participation and rewards.
The release also includes an update to GSOC (Graffiti Single Owner Chunks), which supports multiple users to contribute to a single owner block, which may give rise to a new wave of collaborative applications on Swarm. The implementation of GSoC paves the way for dynamic content on Swarm, allowing collaboration between multiple users! GSoC will support the construction of applications such as multi-user forums, social media sites, chat applications, etc.

Swarm & Fair Data Protocol: From Data Silos to Decentralized Control
TL;DR Imagine a decentralized Dropbox where all your files, documents, and application data are securely stored and can only be accessed individually by you or those you choose to share them with. The Fair Data Protocol (FDP) provides a decentralized, interoperable solution built on Swarm's broader vision of Web3PC and a fair data society - a fair data economy. This solution overcomes the limitations of traditional data silos, allowing users to retain complete ownership of their data while ensuring seamless interoperability between data applications. For developers, FDP is a decentralized backend as a service, allowing them to focus on building the dApp itself without the complexity of managing data storage.
Together with @rjdrost and @NamikMuduroglu, we have written this position paper over the past two months, referencing the comments and feedback from @VitalikButerin, @sreeramkannan, @post_polar_, @Austin_Federa, and @0xMegaMafia. Personal computers enable individuals to process nearly unlimited amounts of information. The internet allows individuals to spread their thoughts to almost the entire world. However, these technologies have not fundamentally changed the way individuals form societies—this process relies on trust, authorization, and sometimes exploitation. What we need is a steward that faithfully executes every invariant in the coordination between humans and machines—a world computer that is designed correctly, open, responsive, and has a large capacity. With the latest advances in distributed systems theory and engineering, a world computer operating close to the physical limits of efficiency is now within reach. The world computer is not just a vision; it is a call to action. It is time to unleash your imagination and start building!

bee version 2.3.0 - reserve doubling We are excited to announce that the Bee v2.3.0 release will be on December 4, 2024! The latest version of the Bee client includes exciting new features and improvements to existing functionalities. These changes include the new reserve doubling feature, new GSOC functionality, and enhancements to the price oracle.
Double reserve for optimized node rewards The reserve doubling feature allows nodes to store blocks from their "sister" neighborhoods, effectively doubling their reserve size. By storing blocks from sister neighborhoods, nodes have the opportunity to participate in the reallocation game whenever their sister neighborhood is selected, thereby doubling their chances of participating in the reallocation game.
