According to U.Today, despite the overall growth in the cryptocurrency market capitalization in 2024, several large-cap cryptocurrencies have experienced significant losses since the start of the year. Among the top 100 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, 37 have seen a decline in their capitalization metrics year-to-date. Starknet (STRK), ORDI (ORDI), and MultiversX (EGLD) were the worst performers, with losses ranging between 40% and 50%.

STRK, the core native cryptocurrency of Starknet, an Ethereum L2, saw 50.33% of its value erased. Other second-layer solutions for Ethereum (ETH) also posted dramatic losses: Optimism's OP lost 38%, Arbitrum's ARB is 31.5% down, while Polygon (MATIC) registered a 27.6% dropdown. However, Chainlink's main token LINK and Internet Computer (ICP) showed resilience with sub-1% losses.

In contrast, the two largest cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), posted impressive gains. BTC increased by 48.9% and ETH by 36.4%. The total crypto market cap added 40% in 2024, driven by the long-anticipated approval of spot Bitcoin ETF in the U.S. This led to a new phase of growth in cryptocurrency prices, with the net valuation of cryptocurrency tokens rising from $1.773 billion to $2.467 billion. The metric peaked on March 13 at $2.891 billion.

Bitcoin (BTC) dominance, the ratio of the BTC market cap to the cumulative market cap of cryptocurrencies, was surging during the whole period. After adding over 6.2%, BTC.D exceeded a three-year high and peaked at 57% in mid-April, according to TradingView data.

According to U.Today, Cardano (ADA), currently the 10th largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, may be significantly undervalued, as suggested by a key metric known as the 'percentage of supply in profit'. This metric is determined by comparing the acquisition price of each unit of cryptocurrency against its current price, and then assessing what proportion of the supply is currently in profit. A high supply-to-profit ratio typically indicates that most holders bought the asset at lower prices.

These ratios can surge during bull markets, such as from October 2023 to March 2024, and a surge is often associated with overbought indicators. However, the supply-in-profit percentage indicator is most effective when used in conjunction with other metrics, like whale accumulation and MVRV. On-chain analytics firm Santiment recently shared the supply-in-profit percentages for major cryptocurrencies Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Cardano, Dogecoin, and Chainlink as 89.9%, 84%, 77%, 51.9%, 76.7%, and 78.2%, respectively.

Santiment suggests monitoring cryptocurrencies with lower-end supply in profits, as they can often indicate undervaluation compared to the rest of the markets. This could apply to Cardano, which is showing a lower supply in percentage compared to other major cryptocurrencies. The supply-in-profit percentage presented suggests that 51.9% of circulating ADA is 'in profit.' This could indicate a potential price rebound for Cardano. At the time of writing, Cardano was down 3% in the last 24 hours to $0.453 and down 6.52% in the last seven days. Cardano is also significantly below its all-time high, down 85.38% from the ATH of $3.10 reached on Sept. 2, 2021.

Recent analysis from on-chain analytics firm IntoTheBlock indicates that ADA 'stands out' among other Layer 1 networks, with only 35% of holders in profit. Whether this is an opportunity or a warning sign remains to be seen.

According to BlockBeats, an Ethereum Foundation associated address, inactive for six years, transferred 2000 ETH to a new address, 0x9d2, two hours ago. The value of this transaction is approximately 6.56 million USD. The address received 2000 ETH from the Ethereum Foundation nine years ago, in September 2015, when the price of the coin was only 0.8917 USD. The value has since appreciated, resulting in a profit of 6.11 million USD. The address is likely owned by an early participant in Ethereum or the Foundation itself.

According to PANews, data from Token Unlocks indicates that next week will see a significant one-time unlocking of tokens such as MEME, OP, DYDX, and ENA, with a total release value of approximately $400 million.

Optimism (OP) is set to unlock about 24.16 million tokens, representing 2.31% of the circulating supply, valued at approximately $56 million, at noon on April 29 Beijing time. Sui (SUI) will unlock about 4 million tokens, accounting for 0.31% of the circulating supply, valued at approximately $4.68 million, at 8 a.m. on April 30 Beijing time.

Echelon Prime (PRIME) will unlock about 1.66 million tokens, representing 4.43% of the circulating supply, valued at approximately $30 million, at 8 a.m. on April 30 Beijing time. dydx (DYDX) will unlock about 33.33 million tokens, accounting for 10.72% of the circulating supply, valued at approximately $71 million, at 8 a.m. on May 1 Beijing time.

ZetaChain (ZETA) will unlock about 5.29 million tokens, representing 2.24% of the circulating supply, valued at approximately $6.2 million, at 8 a.m. on May 1 Beijing time.
