Hey taxpayers! š Big changes are coming in 2025, and you donāt want to miss out on these important updates in the US Tax Exemption Plan. Letās dive into whatās new and how it affects you!
Key Updates for Tax Year 2025:
1. Standard Deduction Increase
- Single Taxpayers: Your standard deduction rises to $15,000, up $400 from 2024.
- Married Couples Filing Jointly: Your standard deduction increases to $30,000, up $800 from 2024.
- Heads of Households: Your standard deduction goes up to $22,500, up $600 from 2024.
2. Marginal Tax Rates
The top tax rate remains at 37% for individual single taxpayers with incomes over $626,350. Other rates include:
- 35% for incomes over $250,525
- 32% for incomes over $197,300
- 24% for incomes over $103,350
- 22% for incomes over $48,475
- 12% for incomes over $11,925
- 10% for incomes $11,925 or less
3. Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) Exemption
- Unmarried Individuals: The exemption amount rises to $88,100, phasing out at $626,350.
- Married Couples Filing Jointly: The exemption amount increases to $137,000, phasing out at $1,252,700.
4. Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)
For qualifying taxpayers with three or more qualifying children, the maximum EITC amount is $8,046, up from $7,830 in 2024.
5. Qualified Transportation Fringe Benefit
The monthly limitation rises to $325, up from $315 in 2024.
6. Health Flexible Spending Arrangements (FSA)
The dollar limitation for employee salary reductions rises to $3,300, up from $3,200 in 2024.
