So Bybit is a victim of trusting the Safe multisig website.

A Safe employee was hacked and uploaded a js code through cloudfront. This code only targets Bybit's address.

HOWEVER, any of us using Safe could have been stolen, it's just that the hacker spared us.

Bybit is a victim because it holds the most funds in Safe multisig.

My life seems to always go against the majority.

The $1.4 billion hack of Bybit is becoming extremely complicated as the attacker is a sophisticated hacker with knowledge of money laundering techniques. In my personal opinion, this hacker group is likely not from North Korea, as they have taken organized steps to launder the money: breaking the amount into many parts, transferring it through different cross-chains, and using exchanges that are willing to assist in money laundering activities.

Notably, they also swapped assets into the Solana ecosystem to add tokens to Pumpfun, a trick that helps turn 'dirty' money into 'clean' money with almost no trace left behind. On just February 22, the hacker group successfully laundered over $100 million. If this pace continues, it is estimated that within two months, the entire stolen amount will be laundered clean.

If Bybit does not promptly collaborate with the FBI or Interpol to conduct an investigation, the chances of recovering this huge sum of money from the hacker will become extremely slim.

eXch Exchange Assists Hackers in Money Laundering $1.4 Billion From Bybit

The eXch exchange recently published an email from Bybit asking for intervention support and gave an official response.

According to eXch's statement, they have no reason to support Bybit, on the grounds that Bybit has intentionally damaged their reputation in the past.

However, the fact that eXch knows the source of the assets involved in the attack but still allows hackers to deposit money without freezing the assets is no different from an act of assisting money laundering.
