[Vitalik Buterin provides support to the DOGE community]
Vitalik Buterin, the founder of the Ethereum blockchain, expressed condolences on the passing of the legendary Shiba Inu Kabosu on the X social media platform, once again indirectly expressing support and respect for the Dogecoin community.
Buterin responded to Kabosu's owner Atsuko Sato (@kabosumama)'s tweet about the death of the Shiba Inu, writing: "RIP Kabochan." Kabosu became an Internet sensation for its 2010 photos, and in 2013 Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer were trolled by Doge. Inspired, the first meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin (DOGE) was created, and Kabosu also became the mascot of DOGE, becoming more popular as Dogecoin rapidly expanded.
With the passing of Kabosu, many leading figures in the cryptocurrency community, including Elon Musk, the official Dogecoin account, and DOGE founder Markus, have expressed their respect for Kabosu and shared the grief of the Dogecoin community.
Musk tweeted that the dog "went to heaven," while the DOGE founder posted a meme of Kabosu talking to the Grim Reaper, who said to the dog: "I was told you were the best."
This isn’t the first time Buterin has shown respect for the DOGE community. He has made numerous donations to the Dogecoin Foundation before. In 2021, Buterin became a member of the organization and made several recommendations to improve DOGE, one of which was to transition DOGE from a proof-of-work algorithm to a proof-of-stake algorithm.
