Important events for the crypto market on May 16 from the economic calendar.
Today is already a relatively calm day in terms of macroeconomics. In the morning, data on Japan's GDP has already been released (worse than forecast, while the trend continues - negative for the yen included in the formula for calculating the US Dollar Index DXY). Most of the other events for the day are speeches by members of the US Federal Reserve, which will not cause increased volatility at the moment. Plus today - standard Thursday data on applications for unemployment benefits in the US and data on the balance sheet of the US Federal Reserve. Both will cause volatility in the moment only in case of a strong deviation from forecasts.
Full schedule for the rest of the day:
❗️ - 15:30 Kyiv time and Moscow time / 17:30 Astana time - Weekly number of initial applications for unemployment benefits in the USA. The labor market is important for the US Federal Reserve's interest rate actions.
- 16:15 Kyiv time and Moscow time / 18:15 Astana time - Volume of industrial production in the USA. Important for assessing recession risks.
- 17:00 Kyiv time and Moscow time / 19:00 Astana time - Speech by a member of the US Federal Reserve, Deputy Chairman for Supervision Barr (permanent chairman).
- 17:30 Kyiv time and Moscow time / 19:30 Astana time - Speech by US Federal Reserve member Harker (a member with “dovish” rhetoric and without a casting vote).
- 18:30 Kyiv time and Moscow time / 20:30 Astana time - Speech by US Federal Reserve member Mester (a member with “hawkish” rhetoric and voting rights).

- 23:30 Kyiv time and Moscow time / 01:30 new day Astana time - US Federal Reserve balance sheet. It will show how things are going in the financial sector, whether there is a possibility of “turning on the printing press.” Everything is already coming to an end to the policy of quantitative tightening; the maximum possible “bottom” is somewhere nearby.
