This afternoon, Binance Launchpad announced that it will launch the token sale of Arkham token ARKM, and will follow the Launchpad subscription model. It will start recording user BNB balances at 8:00 am Beijing time on July 11, 2023, for a period of six days, and a total of 50 million ARKM will be sold.
This is Binance’s fifth Launchpad project following Open Campus token EDU, Sui token SUI, Maverick Protocol token MAV, and Pendle Finance token PENDLE. It is also the first Launchpad project that only supports BNB mining.
So what exactly is Arkham? And what does it mean that Binance chose it?
Arkham: On-chain data intelligence analysis platform
Arkham is officially positioned as an on-chain data intelligence analysis platform — it aims to provide valuable on-chain Alpha information by analyzing on-chain transaction data.
In addition, the platform can use AI algorithms to connect on-chain addresses with real-world entities, providing users with a complete visual behavioral image.
As an on-chain data analysis platform, Arkham’s homepage information display is similar to Nansen, but more concise.
Compared with other on-chain data analysis projects, it is more inclined to the Profiler function, that is, it targets any whale or entity and uses it as a meta-object to collect and analyze on-chain data. This is also one of its differentiated features.
These include but are not limited to the following:
An entity’s transaction history, which can be filtered and sorted by dollar value, token, counterparty, and time;
The entity’s holdings, which can be broken down by token and chain;
The entity's balance history, including total balance history and profit and loss history;
The entity’s usage of the exchange, including volume of deposits and withdrawals, and counterparties ranked by volume;
For example, with Arkham, we can view and monitor any or all addresses of Justin Sun, including asset distribution, capital flow, token status, counterparties, and other information:
The monitored on-chain addresses under Justin Sun hold a total of approximately US$1.1 billion in assets, of which stETH ranks first in terms of asset share, with a total of 257,800 tokens, worth approximately US$480 million.
In addition, each specific large-scale capital flow is also monitored in real time, which can serve as a good early warning and monitoring tool for individual investors to track on-chain whales.
Of course, since Arkham allows users to set labels themselves, false alarms may occur if you are not careful, just like the US government’s coin selling blunder that was previously misreported by a KOL.
Or the assets of crypto institutions like Celsius:
Arkham Intel Exchange, an on-chain intelligence trading platform
At the same time, Arkham also announced today the launch of the on-chain intelligence trading platform Arkham Intel Exchange, which allows users to anonymously buy and sell information about wallet address owners. Buyers can post information needs by offering rewards, and sellers can receive rewards by submitting the requested intelligence.
Additionally, users who have valuable information about a wallet or its owner can sell the information to other users either directly or through auctions.
This means that Arkham aims to build a P2P on-chain intelligence trading product — that is, if capable on-chain analysts (traders, investors, on-chain detectives, etc.) can find on-chain investment opportunities (big whales’ positions, changes in a certain currency, large amounts of funds flowing into exchanges) based on public data, they can place orders to sell to buyers in need.
So Arkham provides a way for on-chain detectives to monetize their skills, satisfying both ends of this need at once and creating a marketplace for intelligence:
Anyone can profit from intelligence on this protocol. People can buy and sell on-chain data and tags, and intelligence and information will become liquid. This will allow the work of on-chain detectives to be monetized on a large scale, the so-called "intel-to-earn".
Arkham believes that based on this intelligence, users can understand the activities of the digital asset market, thereby better participating in the market and achieving better performance.
The Arkham team also listed two specific use cases for users: when a security incident occurs, victims can pool resources to obtain and track intelligence on attackers; trading companies may want to buy out intelligence before their addresses are exposed to prevent competitors from discovering their addresses.
However, there are some questions here:
First, on-chain data is highly time-sensitive. For example, the time window for transferring large amounts of assets to an exchange may be only a few minutes. The auction process is likely to render the seller’s original value information invalid or greatly discounted.
Second, if the corresponding on-chain intelligence data can make money, why would it be sold to others, or would the seller engage in insider trading in advance so that the buyer of the intelligence would take over?
Token Model
The total supply of ARKM is 1 billion, and its token distribution is as follows:
Treasury: 50%;
Investors: 20%;
Team: 20%;
Market making: 5%;
Reward: 5%;
All investor and team tokens will be unlocked linearly over 3 years one year after issuance; tokens in the project treasury are locked by default, and the release will be announced at least 1 month in advance.
summary
In general, as the first project to issue coins in the on-chain data analysis field (compared to Nansen, Dune, etc.), Arkham can be regarded as the opening of a new era in this field.
Especially its "on-chain intelligence trading platform", which is really more appealing - in essence, it is doing the business of selling water. There are always the most people digging for gold mines. Instead of diving into the red ocean, it is better to become a water seller:
Big Vs like Mr. Yu Jin, who have strong on-chain data mining and analysis capabilities, can monetize their on-chain data analysis capabilities and sell them one-to-one or one-to-many to users in need, thereby realizing the monetization of their abilities.
As long as the story of on-chain data analysis continues, such big Vs will always be a minority, and the "critical minority". If you capture them, you will have a certain chance of winning.
As for the subsequent development of Arkham and the actual performance of the ARKM token after its launch, Hot Air Balloon will continue to pay attention, so stay tuned.
