On March 20, 2024, an NFT from the CryptoPunks collection was sold for 4,850 ETH. In monetary terms, the value of the token is $17 million.
This is an NFT from the AlienPunks series, number 7804. The purchase was the second largest of the said collection. The previous owner purchased the token in 2021 for 4,200 ETH, which was $7.57 million at the time of purchase.
The buyer of the NFT has not been identified at the time of writing. The Ethereum wallet featured in the Agreement was first replenished on March 20, 2024 through the Coinbase cryptocurrency exchange.
The ex-owner of the token stated that Punk#7804has not lived up to his hopes for growth since the purchase. According to him, he kept NFT in his collection for a long time, but did not manage to multiply its price sufficiently. At the same time, the user earned 650 ETH ($2.3 million) from the transaction. He noted that it took him a year to find a suitable buyer.
This is the second NFT from the CryptoPunks collection sold in March 2024. At the beginning of the month, token number 3100 was purchased for 4500 ETH. At the time of purchase, it was about $16 million.
AlienPunk#7804was the second most valuable NFT from the said collection. The first place remains with token # 5822. It was sold in February 2022 for 8000 ETH. At the time of the transaction, this amount was equal to $23.7 million.
At the same time, the sale of AlienPunk#7804ranks fifth in the ranking of the most expensive NFT acquisitions in the entire history of the industry. First place goes to Mike Winkleman's digital collage titled "Everydays: The First 5000 Days." In March 2021, it was sold for $69.3 million.
