The Plateau State Government in Nigeria has entered into a partnership with the Algorand Foundation (ALGO). Among the areas of joint work is the introduction of blockchain technology from judicial and legislative services to the healthcare sector.

Quote from the Director General of the Plateau State Information and Communications Technology Development Agency (PITCDA), Dominic Gwamana, from a release on the company website:

“Nigeria has the leading digital economy sector in Africa, and our National Blockchain Policy has been a revolutionary first step towards blockchain adoption in the country... We look forward to collaborating with the Algorand Foundation on real-world use cases that will improve efficiency, transparency and access to government services , while creating new employment opportunities.”

The Algorand Foundation has invested heavily in Nigeria through training software developers across the country since 2021, with over 500 people trained in 2023 alone. They work closely with the top country in the crypto market in Africa.
