Some points that deserve clarification about Drex:
1. Drex appreciation: Drex is a digital currency issued by the Central Bank, which means that its appreciation will not be determined by the supply and demand market as is the case with the dollar or cryptocurrencies. It will be pegged to the real (1 Drex = 1 BRL), and will not have independent exchange rate fluctuations. Comparing it to the dollar or the crypto market makes no sense, since Drex is just a digital representation of the real, with no autonomous appreciation characteristics.
2. Dominance by Blockchain: Drex uses blockchain technology to record transactions, but the blockchain that supports it will be centralized and controlled by the Central Bank of Brazil. This is very different from cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, which operate on decentralized networks, without control by a single agency or institution. Therefore, saying that Drex will not have 'dominance by people' does not reflect the government control that it will inevitably have.
3. Cryptocurrencies and Freedom: While Drex is designed to allow for greater state monitoring and control, traditional cryptocurrencies were designed for exactly the opposite: to give users freedom and autonomy, while protecting them from centralized interference.
It is important to understand that Drex and cryptocurrencies have completely different goals and structures.
While one represents an advance in the digitalization of fiat currency, the other is a decentralized alternative to financial freedom.
