Christmas Sale? Cryptocurrency Crash Sinks Bitcoin, XRP, Dogecoin

It's a bloodbath in the world as Bitcoin leads a cryptocurrency collapse, with assets like Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Dogecoin showing double-digit losses.

Cryptocurrency prices fell again on Thursday, with Bitcoin and other major currencies losing much of their recent gains as the market continued a correction that began on Wednesday after Bitcoin hit another all-time high.

Bitcoin has dropped to its current price of $97,020, just two days after it surged to a fresh peak above $108,000. The leading cryptocurrency is now down 7% on the day – but other high-cap coins are seeing bigger losses on the day.

Ethereum is down about 12% on the day at $3,422, while Ripple-linked XRP is almost even with its 11% drop, trading at $2.22.

Meanwhile, leading cryptocurrency Dogecoin has crashed by around 20% on the day to a current price of around $0.31. Solana has fallen below the $200 mark, dropping by 12% to a current price of $191.

Cryptocurrency prices have been on a steep decline, with the broader market down 9%, according to CoinGecko data. As a result, $1.17 billion worth of long and short positions were liquidated over the past day, according to CoinGlass data, with Bitcoin leading the charge with $241 million in liquidations.
