Litecoin ETF may appear before XRP ETF.

Experts say that Eric Balchunas, one of the leading ETF analysts, poured cold water on the prospects of the XRP exchange-traded fund receiving approval from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the near future. In fact, according to Balchunas, the SEC is likely to approve the Litecoin ETF before the XRP ETF.

It was reported earlier this month that the SEC notified at least two of five potential issuers that it intends to reject their applications for a spot Solana ETF.

Following the nomination of crypto libertarian Paul Atkins to replace SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, there are widespread expectations that the SEC will take a more crypto-friendly stance next year. However, Balchunas stated that this does not mean the XRP ETF will be approved shortly after Atkins begins his term.

Both XRP and Solana face 'complex legal issues,' and these must be resolved before the SEC can approve a spot ETF. However, Balchunas noted that Litecoin (LTC) and Hedera (HBAR) have never been classified as securities by the SEC, making their path to a spot ETF less complicated. Meanwhile, the analyst warned that it is still unclear whether there is sufficient demand from investors for the ETF products recently submitted by Canary Capital.
