, most alt-coins are priced in BTC (or in some cases ETH or BCH). So if the price of your alt-coin remains .001 BTC and the price of bitcoin goes up relative to USD (or some other fiat currency) then your alt-coin is also rising in value at the same rate. If your alt-coin goes up to .0012 BTC then its fiat value is rising faster than BTC; if your alt-coin goes down to .0009 BTC but bitcoin is going up then you still may be making money, just not quite as fast as BTC.
