According to reports, Apple released critical security updates for macOS and iOS this week to address two vulnerabilities that were actively being exploited. These vulnerabilities were discovered by Google's Threat Analysis Group (TAG), and Apple confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that Intel architecture macOS systems had been targeted by these vulnerabilities.
The basic information of the fixed vulnerabilities is as follows:
CVE-2024-44308 — JavaScriptCore — Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware that this issue may have been actively exploited on Intel architecture Mac systems.
CVE-2024-44309 — WebKit — Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to cross-site scripting attacks. Apple is aware that this issue may have been actively exploited on Intel architecture Mac systems.
Due to these vulnerabilities being actively exploited, Apple urges users to install emergency updates as soon as possible, including iOS 18.1.1, macOS Sequoia 15.1.1, and the older version iOS 17.7.2.
