• OrbitLabs' new proposal aims to customize the network by eliminating forks in the core module. According to the release, this will reduce costs and liabilities and improve resiliency and security. While the current model increases costs, the proposal consolidates standard modules and allows Terra Classic changes to be migrated to the Terrad module.

By deviating from the #core #Cosmos SDK and its associated modules, #Terra Classic risks falling behind in adopting important enhancements and new features developed by the broader Cosmos community. This could limit Terra Classic's competitiveness and make it difficult to integrate future technologies, upgrades, performance improvements and other innovations.

The proposed solution will be implemented in two phases. The first phase includes an upgrade to the major version of CometBFT, as well as an upgrade to the CosmosSDK. This will be followed by a CometBFT compatible migration. Prior to phase 2, logic and oracles will be migrated to Terrad, but the network oracle functionality will remain intact.

Phase 2 includes migration to Wasmd mainline, smart contract storage migration, and other tests. The final phase will include snapshot testing to ensure the rollback procedure is correct.

At the time of publication, 99% of those who voted were in favor of the migration, as users were expecting lower fees. The team will also provide regular updates on the implementation process. The network has already gone through several rounds of voting and updates this year and will pick up momentum in the coming months. The budget for the update is $36,000, including $16,000 for phase one and $20,000 for phase two.

On social media, LUNC owners say the update will increase the need for platform development on the network.

Easier adoption of future CosmosSDK updates Increased security through faster patch deployment Improved compatibility with other Cosmos-based chains Opportunity to attract more Cosmos developers to the #Terra Classic ecosystem, the proposal reads.
