The South African Revenue Service (SARS) will include crypto assets in its tax compliance program, collecting information from the Financial Conduct Authority (FSCA) and crypto service providers.

SARS encourages people to participate in the Voluntary Disclosure Program (VDP) if they are not compliant, however, those who have been selected for audit will not be eligible to participate in the program. SARS uses artificial intelligence technology to detect and tackle tax evasion.
