Princeton University researchers have created the first complete brain map of an adult fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster).

Using AI and human collaboration, they mapped 139,000 neurons and tens of millions of connections, resulting in a detailed "Google Map" of the brain.

This connectome was generated from 21 million images, aiding in the study of brain functions and neurological disorders. Given the genetic similarities between fruit flies and humans, this research is a significant step toward understanding human brain wiring and developing treatments for brain diseases.
