Cryptocurrency prices witnessed a state of fluctuation in performance during trading on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, as Bitcoin declined. This decline comes amid the tense atmosphere witnessed by the market, after the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued formal charges on Monday against the operators of “Mango Markets” and “Bedrock”, a protocol for re-storing cryptocurrencies, on charges of offering a job to a hacker who stole $ 2 million from their uniBTC vaults.
The charges reportedly also include Mango DAO and Blockworks Foundation, accusing them of participating in an unregistered offering and sale of crypto assets under the name Mango Tokens (MNGO) on September 27. According to the filing, the entities in question raised over $70 million for their unregistered organization, including investments from U.S. residents. The organizations have agreed to pay a $700,000 civil penalty, and all remaining Mango tokens have been destroyed.
