$XRP

XRP is a digital currency that runs on the XRP Ledger, a platform designed to be decentralized, and is known for its efficiency, low cost and security. XRP provides an innovative way to exchange money outside the traditional banking system, allowing users to trade without relying on traditional bank accounts.

The cryptocurrency was created by Jed McCaleb, Arthur Britto and David Schwartz, and its initial supply was set at 100 billion. During the creation process, a major decision was to give 80 billion of these XRP to Ripple, originally named OpenCoin Inc., an active supporter of the XRP ecosystem. Ripple took on the responsibility of managing the supply of XRP, mainly by hosting most of the XRP.

The core goal of XRP is to facilitate international payments. Its name is inspired by "Ripple Credit", implying that the currency can flow around the world as smoothly as the waves. Through this feature, XRP aims to become a revolutionary force in the global financial system.
