BingX has announced that withdrawal services for some digital assets will be restored on September 21, 2024.

According to the exchange's announcement, withdrawal services will start with stablecoins such as Tether's USDT, Circle's USDC, along with Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Tron (TRX), and Solana (SOL). Withdrawals for other tokens and digital assets will then reopen within the next two weeks.

BingX also said that deposit services will be restored in the coming weeks, and customers will need to resubmit withdrawal requests that were canceled during the outage.

In a recent update, Vivien Lin, Product Manager at BingX, said that the financial damage from the hack was minimized thanks to the majority of customer funds being kept in cold wallets.

Lin also announced that $10 million of the stolen funds have been frozen. The exchange is working with cybersecurity firms SlowMist and Chainalysis to investigate the incident and recover the lost funds.

Ms. Lin asserted that any potential losses would be covered by the exchange’s “sufficient reserves” and emphasized BingX’s six-year history as a reliable service provider.

Hacks and vulnerabilities in September

On September 20, BingX announced that the exchange had been hacked. The attack took place at around 4:00 a.m. Singapore time when the exchange detected unusual withdrawals from a hot wallet.

The damage was initially described as “minor,” but has since been increased to $52 million in stolen funds. The exact amount of the damage has not been determined, but users may still be able to keep all of their funds.

On September 16, decentralized finance platform Delta Prime announced that it had suffered a $6 million leak. According to a spokesperson from cybersecurity firm Cyvers, hackers compromised Delta Prime’s admin wallet and altered contracts to drain the network’s liquidity pool Arbitrum (ARB).

Recently, the Ethena protocol was also hacked in a frontend attack, which left the website compromised and led to Ethena Labs having to disable the website to prevent damage.
