The Linux Foundation has established LFDT as an open source umbrella organization for decentralized ecosystems. Starting with over 100 members including the Hyperledger Foundation, Hedera, and 13 new members, LFDT has taken over all of Hedera’s source code, including the hashgraph consensus algorithm, as Project Hiero. The Hedera Council will retain operational management of the network.

Dfns has contributed its key management system to LFDT as Project Lockness. The Linux Foundation aims to create a reliable and compliant open source cryptography ecosystem to meet the needs of regulated industries such as finance.
