ChainCatcher news, according to Cointelegraph Bitcoin developer Super Testnet said that the purpose of BitVM is to expand Bitcoin, rather than launch Ethereum-like decentralized financial applications on the network.
BitVM’s white paper was published on October 10 by ZeroSync’s project lead, Robin Linus, and is powered by anonymous developer Super Testnet, which implements BitVM’s first proof-of-concept and works to expand BitVM’s functionality. Following its launch, some industry experts believed that BitVM would bring DeFi to Bitcoin, much like the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) did for Ethereum.
Super Testnet said that building a decentralized trading platform on Bitcoin would be a step backward. BitVM focuses on expansion, not implementing smart contracts and issuing a large number of altcoins. The real killer application is to expand Bitcoin. In addition, BitVM can fix a flaw in the Lightning Network.
