According to Foresight News, according to The Block, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Commissioner Mark T. Uyeda said in a KBW2024 fireside chat in Seoul, South Korea that the U.S. SEC needs to create a unique S-1 registration form for digital asset securities. Uyeda used registered index-linked annuities to illustrate that the SEC's standard registration form may not be enough for some financial products. He said that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission works with product sponsors to develop tailored registration requirements, "Why shouldn't we do the same for encrypted digital asset securities?"

Form S-1 is an SEC registration statement that U.S. issuers must file before issuing new securities products. It includes various disclosures, such as income statements and cash flow statements. Uyeda is one of five SEC commissioners with a fixed term until June 2028, and said his views are personal and do not reflect those of the agency as a whole.
