The sharp decline occurred shortly after BTC lost the key $61,000 support level, and the market reacted quickly, hitting a new low in less than an hour.
As of the latest data, according to CryptoSlate's real-time information, although bulls are trying to recover lost ground, the flagship cryptocurrency still recorded a drop of about 6% in the past 24 hours, and the current trading price is hovering around $59,300.
The overall pressure on large-cap assets has made ETH the hardest hit in this decline, with a drop of nearly 10% on the day, hitting a low of $2,388, but then bulls have recovered. At the same time, SOL also suffered a heavy blow, falling to a low of $145, and then rebounded slightly.
Currently, ETH and SOL have fallen by 8.6% and 6.5% respectively in the past 24 hours. In contrast, BNB has performed relatively steadily, falling only 3.6%, and the trading price remains at around $529. Among the top ten cryptocurrencies, except for TRX, which performed slightly better with a drop of 2%, the rest suffered a drop ranging from 5% to 7%.
It is worth noting that TON performed well in the adverse market environment, rising 4.8% in the past 24 hours. However, this upward momentum has not completely offset the impact of the news that Telegram founder and CEO Pavel Durov was arrested in France. The token has fallen by 20% in the past week.
According to Coinglass data, more than $300 million in liquidation events have occurred in the market in the past 24 hours. From the perspective of liquidation type, long positions have become the main target of this liquidation. In the past four hours, about $193.16 million in long positions have been forced to close. In contrast, the short liquidation amount in the same period was only $12.03 million.
