The #Avalanche Foundation has announced a partnership with payment giant Visa to launch a new #cryptocurrency card, the Avalanche Card.
The innovative card will allow users to make cryptocurrency purchases wherever Visa is accepted.
The Avalanche Card supports a range of cryptocurrencies, including Wrapped AVAX (WAVAX), USDC (stable round coin pegged to the dollar) and BenQI Liquid Staked AVAX (sAVAX).
The card offers both physical and virtual cards, as well as dedicated 24/7 support and seamless transactions through the popular app. Each card is tied to a unique user wallet address, ensuring the safety of the user's assets, as well as Visa customer support and enhanced self-storage security.
Cards have already launched in Latin America and the Caribbean, further expansion is planned and an active waiting list is currently being established.
Mr. Sheffield, Visa's chief cryptocurrency officer, recently shared his vision for the future of #blockchain technology. Mr. Sheffield compared the current state of cryptocurrencies to the early days of the Internet, calling it a pivotal time in its development.
Mr. Sheffield noted that just as the Internet faced skepticism and challenges, #blockchain technology is now overcoming similar obstacles.
Mr. Sheffield said: Today's blockchain has some similarities to the early internet. In particular, critics have questioned its speed, convenience and cost. However, just as the Internet has evolved to support video streaming and become accessible to all, we believe blockchain-based networks have enormous potential.
With more than 60 years of experience in payments technology, Visa is committed to promoting blockchain technology to support new forms of commerce. This is really exciting news for Avalanche (AVAX).
