Tbilisi, February 2, 2023 — Binance, the world’s leading cryptocurrency and blockchain infrastructure provider, today announced the signing of an MoU with The Georgian Agency for Innovation and Technology (GITA). Under the agreement, both parties expressed mutual interest in the delivery and implementation of large-scale educational and community initiatives in the blockchain space, along with further joint development of Georgia’s cryptocurrency industry.

This initiative stems from a meeting between Binance co-founder and CEO Changpeng Zhao (CZ) and Georgia PM Irakli Garibashvili that took place in November last year. There, they discussed cooperation in blockchain and crypto education, investments, and other initiatives.

Cooperation under the agreement will also include various educational and charity initiatives from Binance Academy and Binance Charity, as well as the organization of local events and hackathons by BNB Сhain.

“For a long time, we have seen a huge interest in the cryptocurrency market and in particular, crypto education in Georgia. I want to separately emphasize that Georgia is one of the most innovation-driven countries in the region,” said Regional Director of Binance, Vladimir Smerkis.

"Our goals are in line with The Georgian Agency for Innovation and Technology’s goals — together, we can create an effective system in Georgia, whereby innovation and technology can be developed.”

GITA Chairman Avtandil Kasradze said: "It is important to highlight that within the framework of this cooperation, Binance will ensure the implementation of its own educational and charity programs in Georgia. It will also conduct workshops and hackathons related to blockchain technologies in TechParks, which will facilitate the formation of new start-up ideas and the implementation of commercialization-oriented projects."

This is not Binance's first educational initiative in Georgia. Last month, Binance announced the signing of a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) with the country’s Business and Technology University (BTU) to deliver blockchain education to Georgian students.

According to the agreement, Binance and Binance Academy will provide materials and support to help drive further education on blockchain, Web3, NFTs, and cryptocurrency among BTU students.
