Golden Finance reports that Chainalysis stated in a report released on December 19 that North Korean hackers stole over $1.3 billion worth of cryptocurrency in 47 incidents occurring in 2024, accounting for approximately 61% of the total amount reported stolen that year. Chainalysis noted, 'North Korea's cryptocurrency attacks appear to be becoming increasingly frequent,' and added, 'Notably, the frequency of attacks in 2024 ranging from $50 million to $100 million and those exceeding $100 million is significantly higher than in 2023, indicating that North Korea is becoming more proficient and quicker in carrying out large-scale attacks. This contrasts sharply with the previous two years, during which North Korean attacks were more frequent, but the profits generated per attack were below $50 million.'
