Arbitrum to Invest $190 Million in Gaming Ecosystem

Arbitrum DAO has approved the use of 225 million ARB tokens, worth approximately $190 million, to develop the network’s gaming ecosystem. Following this decision, Arbitrum aims to invest and provide grants to gaming projects through the “Gaming Catalyst Program” (GCP). GCP has set up an initial structure to support its investment mandates and has begun to outline personnel and compensation frameworks in the program’s first transparency report.

So far, Arbitrum’s gaming program has spent about $1.2 million, with 93.5% of those costs going toward legal and administrative fees to set up various entities and team member salaries.

Future Plans
In the first quarter of 2025, the program will begin funding game projects for contributors and continue to grow the team to increase operational capabilities. According to the statement, program managers plan to fund a total of 100 projects in three years. Dan Peng, one of the program's operations team, stated that as of December 29, 2024, they have received high interest and applications from game developers for 64 projects.

“It’s exciting to see this momentum building, we’re still in the early stages but things are clearly coming together,” Arbitrum community member Joseph Axisa said on Friday.

There are currently over 60 games in the Arbitrum ecosystem, ranging from third-person shooters to baseball strategy games. ARB, Arbitrum’s native governance token, has gained over 8% in the last 24 hours, but has lost 58% in the last year to 83.5 cents, with a current market value of around $3.5 billion.

Arbitrum’s gaming ecosystem continues to expand with different types of games. The successful progress of the program aims to increase the network’s game development potential, thus providing users with access to a more diversified and high-quality selection of games. GCP’s transparency report details how the program is structured and future investment strategies, aiming to provide confidence to investors and the community. This step shows that Arbitrum wants to ensure sustainable growth in the gaming ecosystem.
