Do Kwon, co-founder of Terraform Labs, is set to face a jury trial in January 2026 in the United States. He pleaded not guilty to multiple charges, including wire, securities, and commodities fraud, related to the $40 billion collapse of the TerraUSD (USDT) stablecoin and its associated token, LUNA.
After his arrest in Montenegro in March 2023 for attempting to travel with a forged passport, Kwon was extradited to the U.S. in December 2024. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert Lehrburger in Manhattan, agreeing to remain in custody without bail.
The charges allege that Kwon misled investors about the capabilities and adoption rates of the Terra blockchain, contributing to its catastrophic collapse. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum penalty of 130 years in prison.
