Cryptocurrencies are digital currencies that use cryptography - a technique of encoding data - in such a way that it is unreadable to anyone who does not have the password.
Thanks to cryptography, cryptocurrencies are virtually impossible to counterfeit, although it is worth remembering that their security also depends on several other factors. Modern cryptocurrencies are decentralized systems based on blockchain technology.
In contrast, blockchain is a distributed database structure first described by a cryptographer named David Chaum in his 1982 doctoral thesis. In the crypto world, blockchain serves as a public ledger of encrypted transactions that is modernized and updated by thousands of people around the world. Transactions are anonymous but publicly available. Few people know that Bitcoin is not the first digital currency. It is not the first implementation of blockchain technology.
This is not an example of the first use of key cryptography to secure data. However, due to the fact that all the above-mentioned elements were collected into one system thanks to Bitcoin, it is the first modern cryptocurrency.....
