Binance Charity and Utiva have offered 1,000 African students tech scholarships and granted them access to a year-long educational program provided by Binance Academy.
We are delighted to announce that Binance Charity is continuing our good work with Utiva to help make a difference in African communities. As part of our efforts to educate 50,000 African young adults and address unemployment within the continent, we are honored to be able to support 1,000 students across 19 African countries through our tech scholarships.
The scholarships are intended to help learners break into the tech industry or advance blockchain careers with a variety of essential blockchain and Web3 skills. Provided by our education arm, Binance Academy, the courses are free and will run for a year.
“Today, we’re celebrating the 1,000 students selected for full scholarships as part of our Binance Charity Scholar Program. This is our most ambitious education outreach to date in the region and the overwhelmingly positive response further bolsters Africa as a key hub for emerging tech talent. We’re so excited for these young people as they embark on a new career journey,” said Helen Hai, VP of Binance and Head of Binance Charity.

Nigerian scholar Renee sent in an application for this scholarship in hopes of pursuing a career in data analysis, believing that Binance would also be able to offer an opportunity to be closer to the tech community across Africa.
Fellow scholar Miracle C. Amakom from Cameroon is also keen on pursuing a career in the same field. “I am an engineering student looking to receive top training academically and professionally. I applied for the Binance Charity Tech Scholarship as soon as I heard about it, and I’m so excited that I got the scholarship! This marks the start of my dream to become a full-stack developer. I can’t wait for lessons to start,” shared Miracle.
Other learners already in the blockchain field also seized the opportunity to advance their skills, like Nicholas Katungi from Uganda. “I’m currently in the blockchain industry working in a company that deals with cross-border payments and digital asset exchanges with the aid of blockchain technology. Because there is a wealth of wisdom to acquire in the blockchain tech vertical, I applied for this to advance my data skills and, hopefully, my career in blockchain tech space soon,” he shared.
