OKX Falls Victim to Crypto Theft Due to SMS Notification Security Failure ☠️

Recent incidents of crypto theft on OKX involved breaches via SMS notifications. Two victims had their accounts compromised using similar methods, including SMS risk notifications from "Hong Kong" and the creation of new API keys with withdrawal permissions. These attacks were carried out by an organized group.
The victims did not enable 2FA tools like Google Authenticator, though it’s unclear if this contributed to the breaches. SlowMist’s MistTrack team is monitoring the hacker wallets.
OKX has responded by contacting affected users and investigating the incidents. The exchange assured that it would take full responsibility if found at fault and will announce the investigation results soon.
In a related Binance incident, a hacker manipulated web cookies and executed trades to evade detection, highlighting the sophisticated methods used by cybercriminals.
