These links were part of a phishing scheme designed to steal his cryptocurrency.
Concerned, William clicked the links and followed the instructions, unknowingly giving scammers access to his Binance account through a fraudulent face verification process.
The scammers drained his account before William could seek help from the official Binance team.
Binance confirmed that the call, texts, and links were malicious attempts to compromise his account. They reiterated that Binance never contacts customers through calls or messages to request sensitive information or initiate actions.
